Biography
Practical coaching, consistent fundamentals, and steady progress.
Sensei Ricardo Martinez brings a disciplined, approachable coaching style shaped by years of training and service. As a USMC veteran and 2nd degree black belt in judo, he values consistency: repeat the basics, refine them under pressure, and build a game you can trust.
His classes emphasize posture, gripping, and controlled intensity—helping students train hard without sacrificing safety. He is known for breaking techniques into simple checkpoints so that beginners can learn quickly, and experienced students can identify exactly what needs tightening up.
Sensei Ricardo also focuses on the “in-between” moments: how to reset after a failed entry, how to transition to pins, and how to keep composure during randori. This approach helps students build confidence while developing solid habits for long-term training.
At Kodokan Cape Coral, he supports students who train for fitness, self-defense, and competition—making sure the fundamentals stay sharp no matter the goal.
