Biography

Clear fundamentals, smart drilling, and confidence on the mat.

Sensei Michael Hernandez is a 1st degree black belt in judo who brings an upbeat, detail-focused approach to teaching. His goal is to make sure every student understands the core movements—how to fall safely, how to move their feet, and how to create off-balance before committing to a throw.

As an experienced competitor, he coaches with practicality in mind: techniques that can be drilled, tested in randori, and used reliably under pressure. Students learn how to link attacks together, recover from imperfect entries, and transition into stable pins.

Sensei Michael is known for creating a training environment that is both welcoming and challenging. Beginners get patient guidance and structure; advanced students get sharp feedback on timing, gripping, and efficiency.

At Kodokan Cape Coral, he helps students build confidence through consistent fundamentals—so training stays safe, enjoyable, and effective.
