Biography
A competitor’s approach to judo fundamentals—built for all levels.
Sensei Ivan Cilano grew up in a traditional European judo environment where strong ukemi, disciplined gripping, and efficient movement came before “flash.” He is known for making complex concepts feel simple: where to place your feet, how to create kuzushi, and how to stay connected through the throw.
Over the years he coached athletes preparing for regional circuits and national-level events, emphasizing repeatable entries and calm decision-making under pressure. His sessions blend technical detail with practical scenarios, helping students understand not just what to do, but when to do it.
At Kodokan Cape Coral, Sensei Ivan focuses on developing confident stand-up judo that transitions cleanly to groundwork. Beginners get a clear path through the basics, while advanced students sharpen timing, combinations, and match strategy.
Whether you are training for personal growth or competitive goals, his coaching style is supportive, structured, and standards-driven—built around safe training, respect on the mat, and measurable progress.
